What are you Reading?
I’m reading an ARC of this book through NetGalley and am roughly half way through. I’m not quite sure what to make of it yet, there’s something a bit off-putting about the main character that’s making the story not as compelling as it could and should be. Jack Blackjack is a bit of an unknown entity, other than him being a Londerer stuck in the Western Counties, I don’t know much about him. Admittedly, this is the 7th book in a series, but I figured it would be worth a read – I’m hoping the tangents come to an end and the main tory of the novel can come to the fore as at the moment it all feels a little bogged down. But when the main plot of the murders is cripping and I really want to know the truth behind both the character and the mystery of the murders.
What did you read last?
One of the books in the Horus Heresy Primarchs series. I’ve been slowly picking my way through these books as with many Black Library books, they can be hit and miss. This series is no different. I greatly prefer the books that focus on the histories and back stories of the individual Primarchs and Perturabo certainly fits the bill. Getting a bit of a dig into his background and seeing how he ended up the way he did certainly made for an engaging read. I don’t know as if this book turned my head like the one about Lorgar did, but I certainly feel more sympathetic toward Perturabo and his origins.
What will you read next?
Onward to the next step in the Horus Heresy. I am really excited to get to read through this one with Dave. As I touched upon a moment ago, I’ve really had my head turned in favour of the Word Bearers and Lorgar, so I am hoping this one resonates. Also having World Eaters and Angron coming along for the ride should be entertaining. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book and I’ve liked other books I’ve read by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, so it’s gearing up to be win-win all the way!
I was going to partake in Inktober this year, but Art has been very slow in coming lately. I also realised that it was Orktober… so I am going to combine the two and use Inktober prompts to write about Orcs instead. I don’t know if I should host each of these prompts on here, daily, that might burn out my readers! But, I’d like to try and get through this writing list as a bit of fun, while developing a few Orc characters – don’t worry, the prompts won’t be smutty!
A friend of mine has recently started an art-related WordPress blog and I thought I’d shamelessly promote them here. I am passionate about WordPress, despite all its flaws, and encourage anyone and everyone I meet to start a blog – should they express an interest.
Needless to say, welcome to WordPress and I hope you have a great time here with both your art and with your blog.
